25 years of successful cooperation
More than 25 years ago, a successful cooperation between innovative companies began. The founder of CEREX AG, Rudolf Bichsel, developed, patented and built buffering systems for the cereal processing industry 25 years ago. Numerous sticking points had to be solved in this highly complex hydrothermal process early on, Mr. Bichsel relied on the knowledge of Peter Meyer for the product inlet and the product outlet at the reactors.
The demands on the closing systems were high:
- Switching pressures of up to 2.5 MPa,
- Switching times of max. 500 milliseconds
- Temperatures up to 300°C
- No product deflections within the fitting
- Service life of at least 300'000 switching cycles and much more
The whole thing had to be operationally safe in humid atmospheres and with proportions of grain dust; for example, "pulp" in the cavities of the fittings had to be avoided. "Pulp" quickly leads to burns (carbonisation) at the temperatures driven and damages the components of the valve, e.g. seals, calottes, etc.. They can also lead to blocking of the actuators and thus to a standstill of the entire system. Another sticking point was the sealing problem - material pairing, sealing springs, etc. - which had to be solved.
Together with Peter Meyer and avintos, CEREX has been able to make improvements to the critical reactor closing systems time and again over the years. Problems of cavitation damage to the balls, bearings of metallic seals, installation optimisation of the fittings and much more have ultimately led to the success of the requirements mentioned at the beginning.
